I'm Back!

It's been several years since I was last active on here; guess that is what one gets for settling down, getting back to the job market and starting up a family. Yes, my wild streak has come to an end. This doesn't mean the growing list of things that irritate and annoy me has though. Now, I have been called many things in my life and most of which are not true and I can sum up what I am in one word, Opinionated...

Now, back at it again I have reached what my ultimate dislike is and that is close minded people. Those that either force their beliefs down your throat and or those that can't relate to the big picture of things. A good example of this is the ongoing religious struggles pagans face when it comes to other religions trying to convert or calling us heathens and saying we're going to hell. My usual response to this is and I quote, "how can I goto a place I don't believe exists? and doesn't your faith teach you "Treat others the way you want to be treated?" That's all I got to say on the matter. As always, I welcome discussion on anything and everything I post.

Recent Discoveries

I know it's been awhile sense I last posted anything here; howerver, I have my reasons. My mom just recently came down with cancer which has spread to atleast one of her lymph nodes. She is going to start chemo soon. This leads to one of the things I hate which is cancer. A disease that runs in my family along with my fiance's family as well. After she found out she had this cancer, she came to realize that she might not be able to come to my wedding or see the birth of her first grand baby.

Ramblings of a MMORPGer

There are a few things I dislike about MMORPG's and several things I love about them... First, I hate the PKers; It's like they don't have anything better to do than just sit around PKing. This really pisses me off since I'm hard at work getting my character to the level I want him at and going on quests with my friends.
Second, KSers-Kill Stealers; These people don't quite get the hint that you have already marked that monster as your own and when you almost have him down, they come by and finish him... Third, Thieves; I absolutly hate them just as bad as the other two; I'd kill the monster and goto pick up the spoils and there is someone sitting on the items I want. The game I play the most has a feature where you can't pickup items for about 10-20 seconds unless you were the person who killed the monster. I'm sure there are a lot more than those listed, but right now, this is all I got.

Banging My Head Against the Wall Yet Again...

Well, as a programmer, I shouldn't let this one get to me as much as it does; but still, I hate when it happens. Just a few days ago, I was working on a website, still am working on it, that was working fine a about 1-2 days before. When I found out that I had a few errors in the coding. When I went to look through the files to see what or where I went wrong, I kept comming up with nothing. After about 2-3 hours of fiddling around with the code I finally gave up and went to look for help. Having a friend/ex-instructor/IT Pro. look it over, he also, at frist glance saw nothing wrong. A few minuits later he saw that somehow, I had an opening javascript tag with no closing one to follow left in the script I was working on.
Guess what happened was that I was working on a MS Word generated html file in a html editor and when I put the include files in it somehow generated the closing tag. Another part of this goes back to when I was, also still am, working on one of my very own websites I have decided to write in php. The problems started there a few days before I upgraded my MySQL to the new release. I thought the upgrade would fix the problems, but me being the way I am failed to read some articles on how php doesnt like the new version of MySQL and ended up with more problems.
I get everything to work fine under phpmyadmin, just not in any of the other scripts I've written I've even tried replacing the mysql_connect statements with the ones that were recommended on many of the PHP/MySQL support forums. This didn't work either. so , I'm still dead in the water on that. However, I did find a temporary fix using a portal package called GuppY.

Left in the Dark (With No Flash Light)

Well, it never fails... I've always seem to get hit by this one thing. That is being left in the dark about what's going on. I'm almost always the last person to know something when it comes to my family. The only exception is my little sister; I'm the first person she comes to for almost everything. Other than that, I was the last person to know my stepmom got into a wreck that pretty much rendered my dads van useless. My cousin also got into a wreck, luckily I wasn't with him at the time, and his car is pretty much totaled. I'm also left in the dark about when and why my grandma needs my till I'm about to step out the door. I wish people would learn that I also care and I don't appreciate being the last to know. Especially when I'm involved...
My fiance is also kind of bad at doing this too me; just the other day, I called her and she said she couldn't talk for long. I asked her what was wrong and she replied I can't tell you. This went on for about a good 20 minuits. After the call, my stomach was in so many knots that an expert knot maker wouldn't be able ta untangle it; it go so bad that I was almost in tears. I don't know why though; since I can usually accept it when she says she can't talk about it.

The Devil of All Router/Gateway/Modems

That's right folks, I've actually found a piece of hardware that I am coming pretty close to smashing to pieces. This particular piece is called an Actiontec GT701-wg. My particular issue with it is that it is nearly impossible to configure for running webservers. The tech support between the companies that use it is also scarce. Well, I guess that's what I get for going with Qwest, which uses MSN. Why can't people get it right and quit putting those of us who depend on such services in the middle of it!!!. I mean, it's not just the hardware that gets to me, I could probably live with it if the damn tech people at either Qwest or Actiontec would get it straight and respond to problems more effectively.

Another thing, I hate Actiontec; to get any support by phone, you've gotta pay at least half your internet bill. I mean, jeesh, who in their right mind would want to pay $20-30 for tech support?
The other part of this whole mess I despise is the fact that Qwest requires you to use this P.O.S.

Carelessness

No matter where it comes from I absolutly cannot stand carelessness; even when its comming from me. So far, I've only been careless once; that was about a month ago when I accidently got into a small fender bender. When It happened, I was so upset at myself for letting it happen. The kicker is that the other car was parked; I snagged its right whell well with my front bumper.

Enough of what happened to me that day; let me continue onto a few other careless events. Those events aren't as bad as the first one, however, atleast one of them could have been. Just the other day, I was driving home from work in my Chevy 1987 Sports GT van, fullsize, and this person drove up beside me right when I was about to turn into the inside lane and honked as if it was my fault he/she couldn't get by. I was thinkin to myself as this was happening; "does this person have a death wish?" Now, the other event involved my cousin, and yes, it was with a car as well. It just happened earlier today. My cousin was drivin' minding his own business while the other car passed him and slowed down below the speed of my cousins car; luckily, we avoided any accidents.

I can tollerate a little carelessness now and then , but when it puts someone elses life in danger, that is when I draw the line. People should be more aware of whats around them and not whats goin' on outside of the moment. If you think about it, you have probably seen carelessness at least once or twice a day. I openly invite you to share what you have seen/heard that has been careless here on by blog.
